 Marriage License:

• Applicants can apply up to six months prior to the intended date of the ceremony.
• License takes 72 hours to issue so please make sure to apply within enough time.
• The license expires 30 days after the applicant’s pick it up from our office.                     

 Are you are resident of New Jersey or are you an out-of-state resident?

• If you are a resident of New Jersey, you apply in the municipality where you live.
  • If both spouses reside in New Jersey, but in different municipalities, you can choose which one to apply with.
• If you are an out-of-state resident, you apply with the municipality that your ceremony will take place in.                    

•  If you have a Manasquan mailing address but your address has more than 3 numerical numbers, you must apply in Wall Township.
•  No appointments necessary
• One witness 18 years of age & over that knows both applicants
• $28.00 fee (cash/check made out to the Borough of Manasquan)
• I.D. (valid photo driver’s license, passport, etc.)
• Proof of Address (valid driver’s license, voter registration, utility bill (last 90 days), vehicle insurance, etc.)
• Social Security Numbers
• Date of Ceremony
• Name of the person performing the ceremony
• Where the ceremony will take place
• Domestic status information i.e. divorce
• Former Domestic Partner or Civil Union             

* Downloaded forms can be completed but must be signed in the presence of the Municipal Registrar in the Municipal Clerk’s office. Please call (732) 223-0544, ext. 235 for more information     

Marriage certificates are filed in the municipality where the ceremony took place.

• After the certificates are filled out in their entirety, they should be dispersed as follows:
• Copy 1 and Copy 2 should be sent to the municipality where the ceremony took place.
• Copy 3 is retained by the couple.
• Copy 4 is retained by the officiant.

Certified Copies

After the marriage certificates have been filed, the couple may wish to obtain certified copies for their records. Please note that filing the marriage certificate with the municipality where the ceremony took place does not automatically provide the couple with certified copies. Certified copies must be requested separately and are subject to an additional fee.
