The Finance Department is responsible for maintaining a uniform system of accounts,
accounting standards and procedures throughout the municipal entity, as well as for
the receipt, safeguard, investment and disbursement of municipal funds, accounts
payable and receivable, pension systems reporting and payroll processing.
The department also has oversight of operations on tax collection, tax assessment,
public purchasing, Water, Sewer and Beach Utilities. Responsibilities are extended to:
1. Attendance to meetings,
2. Bank reconciliations
3. Development and maintenance of the annual operating and capital budgets of
various departments, agencies and funds
4. Frequent monitoring of budget expenditures
5. General ledger maintenance
6. Grants accounting
7. Internal financial controls;
8. Issuance and management of public debt
9. Participation in special projects, and other related duties as needed
10.Staff supervision
11.Treasury and cash management
