Mission Statement:

The Borough of Manasquan Tax Collector's office aims to provide the best customer service while fulfilling the monetary obligation charged to this office for the purposes of Manasquan Borough and Monmouth County.

Responsibilities:

The New Jersey State Statutes charges the Tax Collector with collecting funds needed to support local government, county government, school districts and fire districs.

Buying and Selling:

  • When you sell your home, make a copy of your bill for your records and present the new owner with the original bill at closing
  • If you have purchased a property and did not receive a bill at closing, you must contact this office for a duplicate bill. Bills are not issued due to sales; failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt you from property tax payments or the interest due on delinquent taxes.

New Jersey residents soon will receive filing information mailers for the 2019 ANCHOR- Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters- property tax relief program. The ANCHOR program replaces the Homestead Benefit Program and expands the amount of property tax relief while also boosting eligibility to twice as many homeowners and including tenants. The deadline for filing an ANCHOR application is Friday, December 30, 2022.  Under the ANCHOR program, homeowners making up to $250,000 per year are eligible to receive an average $700 rebate in FY2023 to offset property tax costs, lowering the effective average property tax cost back to 2016 levels for many households that were previously ineligible for property tax relief.

The Borough of Manasquan, by passage of a yearly Resolution, allows a grace period before charging a penalty for late payment of taxes. Delinquent interest is charged after the 10th day of the month taxes are due. The State of New Jersey does not allow the Tax Collector to accept postmarks; therefore all payments MUST be received in the Tax Office on or before the 10th. If the 10th falls on a weekend or legal holiday, the taxpayer has until the next business day to make payment.

Delinquent Interest Charged on Taxes:

By law, the Borough of Manasquan has adopted by Resolution an interest rate of 8% per annum on the first $1,500 of delinquency and 18% per annum on any amount in excess of $1,500. The Tax Collector is also authorized to charge a taxpayer having delinquency in excess of $10,000, at the end of the calendar year, a Year-End Penalty of 6%. N.J.S.A 54:4-67
