StormReady

Stormready

Manasquan Is a StormReady Community

The StormReady program is administered by the National Weather Service and the NJ Office of Emergency Management, and requires municipalities to have specific procedures and equipment in place for responding to severe weather emergencies.

These requirements include maintaining multiple redundant warning reception and dissemination capabilities, robust response capabilities, as well as developing and exercising a formal plan to respond to all weather-related emergencies.  The certification grants additional Community Rating System (CRS) points contributing to overall flood insurance rankings and flood insurance premium deductions.

Manasquan residents automatically receive a 25% reduction in annual flood insurance premiums as a direct result of participation in the CRS program.

Manasquan was one of the first communities certified StormReady and remains one of only 15 municipalities certified StormReady statewide.
